Lyon College Athletic Department welcomes new Scots Men's Wrestling Head Coach Christopher Wilmington.
"We are very excited for our men's wrestling program," Lyon College Athletic Director Kevin Jenkins said. "Coach Wilmington comes from a background of national success both as a student-athlete and as a coach. We believe Lyon College wrestling will be extremely successful with Coach Wilmington leading the program. We believe we will continue the outstanding and competitive experience for our student-athletes. He has a great understanding of what it takes to both recruit and coach at a high level and we are looking forward to what the future holds for Lyon College Men's Wrestling!"
Wilmington comes to Batesville from Seminole, Florida where he was head wrestling coach for St. Petersburg Catholic High School. Previously he was head wrestling coach at Admiral Farragut Academy, Victory Christian Academy and Northside Christian School.
Wilmington is a former Machinist Mate (MME) in the United States Navy.
Some of his coaching accolades include seven Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state championships, three FHSAA State Runner-ups, 32 FHSAA State Qualifiers, two high school freestyle All-Americans, one MS National Champion and two MS All-Americans. Wilmington has coached for more than 20 years and has a USA Wrestling Bronze Coaching Certification, AAU Wrestling Coach certification, 3 Dimensional Coach Certification and is a wrestling official.
Emma de Brum is from Lana’i City, Hawai’i. She graduated from Lyon in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration: Management and Finance, and with a minor in computer science.
de Brum was part of the Scots women’s wrestling team from 2018 to 2023. In 2020, she finished in third place at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships and was part of a first place team finish. In 2021 she finished in third place at the SAC tournament and in 2022 was SAC runner-up in her weight class.
After graduation, de Brum was hired as the Lyon College Athletics Media and Communications Assistant. In January 2024, she became the women's wrestling interim head coach and the Scots took third place as a team in St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference (SLIAC) Championships with two individual champions. The Scots went on to record a first place finish as a team at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Southwest Conference (SWC) Tournament with four individual champions. The Scots finished their season at the NCWA Championships and walked away with two All-American finishers.
de Brum was named the 2024 NCWA SWC Female Coach of the Year.
